Nama Water Services has handed a consortium led by SUEZ a performance-based contract to run water and wastewater services for 2.3 million people in Muscat and Al Sharqiyah. Water losses must fall from 34% to 11% by 2040.
Nama Water Services, Oman’s state water and wastewater utility, has awarded a 15-year performance-based contract worth about OMR 900 million to a consortium led by the French group SUEZ. The consortium will run water and wastewater services in Muscat and the North and South Al Sharqiyah governorates, which together are home to about 2.3 million people, or 43% of Oman’s population. SUEZ values the contract at €2 billion and calls it the largest in its history.
