AlongRoute is developing advanced AI models that ‘learn’ how the physics of the ocean work, enabling highly accurate marine weather forecasts that, when used as input to existing weather-based ship routing systems, can improve the performance of these systems by up to 1.3 times compared to today. The potential impact is significant: Up to 50 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions from cargo ships could be reduced within just one year of market introduction.

VIRIDE grows algae in the desert. In our quest to produce new green biomass in a sustainable way, VIRIDE activates unused dry land with seawater algae cultivation. The infrastructure that we build allows us to create an ecosystem of aquaculture, agriculture and forestry. With algae as a core product, the approach provides not only plant-based carbon for materials and fuels, but also for food and feed. While today’s world relies on fossil carbon and proteins and oil from rainforests, VIRIDE grows sustainable alternatives without deforestation and by recycling the CO2 from our atmosphere.

Based on an over 2.000 year old concept by the Roman engineer Vitruvius, the team of Vitru Water developed a simple but smart solution to ensure a fair water distribution in rural areas of the global south. While we are used to have water 24/7 available, people in many regions of the world have to deal with an unfair distribution within their water supply system. As soon as water gets short, the villages at the end of a system get no longer a share of the available water. By integrating our Vitruvio water distribution tank, we ensure a fair and reliable distribution of the available water – independent of water availability and demand.
